A Brief History

The northern part of California is where you can discover Lassen Volcanic National Park. It has a lot of hydrothermal sites like Bumpass Hell, which has a lot of bubbling mud pots spread out over acres. At the top of Lassen Peak Volcano, you can see the wilderness all around. Nearby, the Devastated Area has lava rocks from the most recent eruption all over the ground. In the north, the Pacific Crest Trail is connected to a network of trails that go through forests and around several lakes.

In 1916, the Lassen Volcanic National Park was made. It has flower-filled meadows, clear lakes in the mountains, and many volcanoes. When you look closer, though, you can see that the hissing fumaroles and boiling mud pots left over from Lassen’s fiery volcanic past are still changing and shaping the land.
