To be completely frank, I’ve never been to Iowa and I think I now may know more about their RV parks than any reasonable human should know. But this was a fun list to compile and has completely changed my outlook on this beautiful state! I cannot wait to visit soon.

Lake Macbride State Park

At Lake Macbride, there are two distinct campgrounds: one that is contemporary and has electricity and modern restrooms, and another that is non-electric and has outhouses. You can go swimming, rowing, fishing, or just relax on the sand for the day on the lake.
You can always use the campfire to cook up a nice breakfast in the morning and enjoy some morning tea by the fire.
MacNider Campgrounds

This campground is conveniently located in the midst of all the attractions of Mason City, Iowa. In fact, the Mason City Family Aquatic Center is immediately across the street from MacNider Campgrounds, which is also close to the city’s center. It’s a well-liked destination for those seeking a cozy, small-town atmosphere.
The MacNider Campgrounds are ideal for anyone who wants to save money without sacrificing quality. For just $17 per night, you can have a basic campsite with water and power. For just $26 per night, you can have full connections. You also have access to a camp store, fire rings, restrooms, showers, and picnic tables for a very modest cost. Of course, there is a lot to discover in Mason City’s downtown. There are 75 RV sites with full connections, 30/50 amp, with both back-in and pull-through options.
Backbone State Park

At Backbone, there are two campgrounds. South Lake Campground has two shower houses, a playground, and a dump station in addition to electric and non-electric sites. And the Pine Campgrounds, which has restrooms and non electric areas at the park’s western entrance. There are also contemporary cottages with one or two bedrooms that come with heating and air conditioning.
There are about 21 miles of hiking trails nearby, as well as swimming, boating, and fishing. Please be aware that while hunting and riding horses are permitted in Backbone State Forest, they are not permitted in Backbone State Park. The boundaries separating the two zones have been carefully defined by the authorities.

Green Valley State Park
