To be completely frank, I’ve never been to Iowa and I think I now may know more about their RV parks than any reasonable human should know. But this was a fun list to compile and has completely changed my outlook on this beautiful state! I cannot wait to visit soon.

At Briggs Woods, there are 82 camping spots available, and spaces for big RVs to fit in. There is a modern shower facility that is handicap accessible. Within Briggs Woods Park, WIFI is accessible. Lake Anita State Park

The closest major city in Iowa, Des Moines, is about a 90-minute drive from the campground. Additionally, Chicago, one of the biggest cities in the US, is six hours away by car.

Dead Man’s Lake, a secret four-acre sphagnum bog that is the only one of its kind in the whole state, is one of Pilot Knob’s greatest attractions.

Springbrook State Park

With its location in west central Iowa’s scenic region, Springbrook State Park boasts breathtaking views in every direction. The campground in Springbrook State Park is convenient for those who have rented an RV to stay near Guthrie Center.

Springbrook Lake is right there, too, so you can go swimming or boating without using any gas. In addition to RV sites with electrical hookups, Springbrook Campground features a basketball court, playground, sand volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. As well as restrooms and showers, there is also a disposal station.

Rock Creek State Park

You can’t go wrong by camping at Rock Creek Campground in Rock Creek State Park if you’re seeking for a year-round RV campgrounds in Iowa. In addition to cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, the park provides paths for hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding in the summer.

There is a children’s playground, a fishing pier, horseshoe pits,  and a camp store where you may buy any supplies you might have forgotten to bring. There are both non-electric and 50 amp electrical hookup campsites available at Rock Creek Campground. You can purchase ice, firewood, and fishing bait inside the park. There are on-site showers available from April to October.

Lake Macbride State Park

Lake Macbride is the ideal camping location if you enjoy bird watching. Ospreys, shorebirds, and waterfowl are all known to be plentiful in the spring and fall.

At Lake Macbride, there are two distinct campgrounds: one that is contemporary and has electricity and modern restrooms, and another that is non-electric and has outhouses. You can go swimming, rowing, fishing, or just relax on the sand for the day on the lake.

You can always use the campfire to cook up a nice breakfast in the morning and enjoy some morning tea by the fire.

MacNider Campgrounds

This campground is conveniently located in the midst of all the attractions of Mason City, Iowa. In fact, the Mason City Family Aquatic Center is immediately across the street from MacNider Campgrounds, which is also close to the city’s center. It’s a well-liked destination for those seeking a cozy, small-town atmosphere.

The MacNider Campgrounds are ideal for anyone who wants to save money without sacrificing quality. For just $17 per night, you can have a basic campsite with water and power. For just $26 per night, you can have full connections. You also have access to a camp store, fire rings, restrooms, showers, and picnic tables for a very modest cost. Of course, there is a lot to discover in Mason City’s downtown. There are 75 RV sites with full connections, 30/50 amp, with both back-in and pull-through options.

Backbone State Park

At Backbone, there are two campgrounds. South Lake Campground has two shower houses, a playground, and a dump station in addition to electric and non-electric sites. And the Pine Campgrounds, which has restrooms and non electric areas at the park’s western entrance. There are also contemporary cottages with one or two bedrooms that come with heating and air conditioning.

There are about 21 miles of hiking trails nearby, as well as swimming, boating, and fishing. Please be aware that while hunting and riding horses are permitted in Backbone State Forest, they are not permitted in Backbone State Park. The boundaries separating the two zones have been carefully defined by the authorities.

Horseshoe pits, a boat rental facility, a playground for kids, and hiking trails are available.

Three Amish-built cottages that are still standing, in operation, and open for reservations are at Harvest Farm Camping Resort in Northeast Iowa, close to the hamlet of Cresco. More than 80 campgrounds are available at Harvest Farm, with water and electricity hookups available at more than half of them.

For those who want to rough it a little bit more, there are also 10 tent-only sites available. The adjacent quaint and eclectic restaurants and shops of Cresco are only minutes away, and there are lots of water-based activities available at Harvest Farm. The campsite also has a full-service spa with tanning beds, a hair salon, and a nail salon.

Green Valley State Park

The Green Valley Campground is a family friendly RV campground in southern Iowa located inside a state park of the same name. It is within a short distance from Des Moines. The Green Valley Campground offers full hookup, electric, and non-electric RV camping sites. There are also modern restrooms, showers, and a disposal station available.

Maquoketa Caves State Park is a spelunker’s heaven with its 13 different caves. However, Maquoketa doesn’t only offer pleasure outdoors. This Iowa gem in Jackson County offers a wealth of above-ground activities and attractions. The park, which was established in the early 1920s, also features some authentic American history.
