Black Mesa State Park and Nature Preserve is in the western panhandle of Oklahoma. About 30 million years ago, a coating of black lava covered the area, giving rise to the name. The highest point on the plateau is 4,973ft above sea level, making it a great destination for hikers. Wild animal watching, hiking, canoeing, and fishing are all popular pastimes. Twenty-five full-service RV sites (with water and electricity) and five rustic tent sites are available on-site. No complete hookups are available.
