For a long time, RVers have loved visiting South Carolina. Culture, places to visit, and delicious food abound in this southern and eastern coast state. It can be difficult to decide where to go and stay when there are so many wonderful possibilities.

How does South Carolina stand out?

The region’s length—from the Atlantic Coast to the Blue Ridge Mountains—means that it encompasses a wide variety of landscapes and cultures. And last but not least, it is the location of major urban centers like Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville, in addition to several smaller communities.

About 70 RV sites, including those with full hookups, are available at this modest campground, along with a few cabins for rent. Every single one of the campsites has cable TV hookups. 

In terms of RV camping, patio sites are the best, featuring upgraded picnic tables, stone patios, fire pits, and gas grills. There is an outdoor pool, a dog park, miniature golf, a frisbee golf course, nature trail, and a game room on the premises. There is a basketball court, a jump pad, a tetherball court, a playground, and some climbing tires in the park’s designated KOA play area.

Visitors can set up camp outside of Florence and drive to nearby cities like Columbia or Myrtle Beach. Florence’s proximity to the state’s diverse natural environments—including dense forests, sublime mountains and sandy beaches—makes it an excellent base for exploring the region.

Approximately 70 campsites are at your disposal, and the vast majority of them feature full hookups with support for 30/50 amp electricity. There are both back-in and pull-through sites for campers’ convenience. RV parking, a laundry room, and a bathroom are just a few of the residential conveniences provided.

Devils Fork State Park

At Devils Fork State Park, visitors can enjoy some of the perfect trout fishing in South Carolina, as well as take a dip in Lake Jocassee, which is fed by mountain springs, and explore four breathtaking waterfalls that are only accessible by boat. The lake is perfect for swimming and scuba diving due to its pristine clarity. 

There are 57 RV hookups available, in addition to tent sites, villas, and a campground that is only reachable by watercraft. Oconee Bell Trail is a mile-long nature path that gets its name from a rare bird that is seen there in the spring.

Campers will have easy access to Greenville and Columbia. These are among South Carolina’s most populous urban areas, and they are also home to many of the state’s most popular tourist destinations. Campers will also enjoy the many amenities and activities available at the campground, such as swimming pool, recreation hall, and traditional outdoor games like horseshoes.

There are around 44 gravel campsites at this campground, and most of them have full hookups with 30/50amp power. Large rigs are welcome at this park and pull-through spots improve accessibility. A fire pit and picnic table are standard at most sites. The facilities include restrooms, showers, laundromats, and much more.

Dreher Island State Recreation Area

This fishing haven is only 30mi from Columbia. There are 12mi of Lake Murray shoreline and nearly 350acres to explore at this park, which is spread across three islands. Tent sites, five lakeside villas, and 97 paved RV spots are all available.

Select one of three paths to wander the park. To accommodate larger groups or families, there are picnic shelters and play areas for the kids. You can go swimming, jet skiing, wakeboarding, and waterskiing, and the lake has excellent striped and large-mouth bass fishing.

This park is a great starting point for exploring all the wonderful things Charleston has to offer. Considering that James Island County Park is a publicly owned park, the campground’s facilities are surprisingly high-quality. Most campsites also have water and sewage hookups, as well as 20/30/50 amp service. You’ve got yourself a great RV park once you add in the laundry facilities, fire rings, grills, camp store, and recreation center.

Nearby trails allow visitors to the park to get out and see all that Charleston has to offer on foot or two wheels. Over 16 acres of water are available for freshwater fishing, and there is also a crabbing and fishing dock on a tidal creek, as well as playgrounds, dog parks, watercraft rentals, and a massive water park.

Hunting Island State Park Campground

An incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding forest can be had from the top of the state’s sole accessible lighthouse for the public, which is located in Hunting Island State Park. You can go on a nature walk through the forest that stretches for miles, or swim in a salt-water lagoon.

There are 100 campsites to pick from, all with amenities like running water, electricity, and flush toilets. There are a number of boardwalks along the beach, in addition to a fishing pier and a playground. A cabin can be found in close proximity to the lighthouse.

Cheraw State Park

There are 17 RV hookups and 9 cabins at this park, all within walking distance of Lake Juniper, a 360-acre lake that is perfect for stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. More than 7,000acre of piney forest, cypress wetlands, and an endangered woodpecker call this park home. The park features a Tom Jackson-designed 18-hole golf course, picnic areas, a community room available for rent, and a boardwalk that circles the lake. There is also hot showers and free Wi-Fi.

Huntington Beach State Park

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina is home to this stunning park on the world-famous Grand Strand. Some of the perfect surf fishing on East Coast can be found at Huntington Beach State Park, which also offers 66 RV spots with full hookups.

Along with great fishing and stunning ocean views, it is also a fantastic location for bird watching. There is a lake in the park where alligators are frequently spotted. Like Hunting Island, you’ll need to plan ahead and book your accommodations well in advance. When it comes to RV camping, this park is among the best in South Carolina.

If you’re looking for a campground with a more rustic atmosphere and fewer amenities than those found at typical RV resorts, consider staying here. Sometimes, the best way to have a relaxing weekend is to disconnect from civilization and reconnect with nature.

Spend the weekend here in peace and quiet amidst the trees. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun around here. Activities in the area include wildlife observation, fishing, and visiting a fish hatchery. Simply spending time around the fire pit roasting marshmallows with the family is a wonderful option.

Croft State Park is a great spot for RV camping. Swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding are just some of the activities we’ve enjoyed during our many trips to the park. You would never guess that downtown Spartanburg is only a few short minutes away from the park. Entering the gates is like traveling thousands of miles away from the city. There are miles of trails, two large lakes, and a spotless bathhouse at Camp Croft. The RV sites all have water and power connections.

Those seeking a quiet place to appreciate nature’s uncomplicated beauty will find what they’re looking for in this state park. Many people will be awed by the sheer volume of natural beauty. Since this is just a park but not a resort, you’ll have to come up with some of your own entertainment.

You will still have a good time here, though. You won’t miss the park’s lack of entertainment because of the time you spend with your loved ones. You can spend a day on the water doing things like kayaking, boating, and more, or you can go for a hike to some beautiful scenery. For a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with loved ones, this park is ideal.

Members can dry camp at this Harvest Host, which also happens to have 18 acres of grapevines and does all of its harvesting up to bottling in-house. There’s parking for RVs longer than 45ft and a tasting room stocked with 5 vintages of the venue’s delicious wines.

They welcome pets and have cute outdoor areas for them to explore, as well as vines on each side of the road. The owners, a lovely couple, consistently go out of their way to accommodate Harvest Host guests. This is a great bouncy house for a family who stays at home full time with young children.
