Crabtree Falls is the largest waterfall found east of Mississippi River and should not be missed. Spy Rock is more of an adrenaline rush for the daredevils among us. Natural Tunnel State Park

The park’s namesake, a natural tunnel over 850 ft long and 10 storeys tall, was carved by water and wind through a ridge of limestone over thousands of years, earning the park its moniker. There is also a large gaping hole in the middle of two high stone walls, which is surrounded by chimneys, and is a stunning sight in itself. A pool with such a 100 feet slide and chairlift to a tunnel floor are just two of the many extraordinary man-made additions to the park. 

There are two camping options in the park: Cove View and Lover’s Leap. RVs have access to both water and electricity at all campsites. Each campsite has its own barbecue pit, picnic table, and fire pit. Every camping reservation comes with a complimentary pool pass. Horseshoe pits and volleyball nets are available for use at Lover’s Leap Campground.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park

Big Meadows Campground in Shenandoah National Park is tucked among the park’s gentle hills and thick forests. In this part of Blue Ridge Mountains, going camping is not simply a leisure activity; it’s a genuine outdoor adventure. This portion of the state isn’t really particularly convenient for camping. That’s why it’s so crucial that you always use safe methods of storing food. If you don’t, a bear, deer, raccoon, or skunk looking for a meal might decide to pay you a visit.

There are deep back-in and pull-through sites that can accommodate RVs of most sizes, along with their tow vehicles. Campground amenities include drinkable water and dump station, but no water or electric hookups. Only designated areas and times are permitted for generator use. Ample shade can be found at each of the more than 200 campsites. Showers, restrooms, utility sink, laundry facility, an emergency telephone, a ranger station, a dumpster, a recycle area, and an amphitheater are all available to the public.

Occoneechee State Park

Occoneechee, located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, also called Buggs Island Lake, was named after the Native Americans who had inhabited the area for centuries. The lake’s three boat ramps allow access to fishing, boating, and aquatic recreation at any time of day or night, making it Virginia’s largest lake. Twenty miles of trails are available for walking, riding, and even horseback riding in the park. 

Multiple RV-friendly campgrounds can be found in Occoneechee. Campsites in C-Campground have the best location, amenities, and proximity to the water. Campground B can fit RVs up to 35 ft long, but Campground C can just fit RVs 30 feet in length. Each campground features a clean restroom and shower facility with hot running water.

Hamlet Vineyards and Martinsville Speedway,are all within driving distance from the lake.

U.S. Army COE is responsible for the upkeep of Rudd’s Creek Campground in a region close to the state line with North Carolina.  There is nothing better than camping at one of COE’s waterfront sites. Campers who want to bring their boats along on their vacation can reserve a site on the water and tie them up to a dock behind their campsite.

Sites in Rudd’s are large and wooded, with plenty of separation from neighbors. We do not allow awning-to-awning camping. There is electricity and running water at each campsite, as well as multiple shower and restroom facilities and a two-lane dump station close to the campground’s entrance. There is also a playground, an outdoor theater, and three boat ramps in addition to the designated swimming area.
