Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground is one beautiful RV park in the northeastern part of West Virginia, and it is located within Coopers Rock State Forest. It’s only ten miles from Morgantown’s downtown and right next to West Virginia University Forest and a number of lakes and rivers.

Pegasus Farm Campground is a fantastic RV park in the Elkins area. The campground was constructed on a gently sloping meadow, and it features beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Three of the campsites are designated as group sites and can accommodate as many as forty campers per site. Blackwater Falls State Park in Tucker County is a great spot for campers and RVers looking to get away from it all in a beautiful and secluded part of the Allegheny Mountains. Anytime between Memorial Day and the end of the summer season, you can call ahead and reserve your preferred camping spot.

Numerous vantage points in the park allow visitors to take in breathtaking views of Elakala and Blackwater Falls. Located in central-northern West Virginia, just seven miles from St. George, is the Horseshoe Recreation Area. The campsite is in a secluded valley by Horseshoe Run River, making it a prime location for wildlife watching and fishing. Go for a drive through the woods and soak up the beautiful scenery. In the fall, the region’s foliage takes on a palette of brilliant hues.
Standard campsites include electrical hookups and come with amenities like grills, picnic tables, and trash cans. One can choose between flush toilets and vault toilets, both of which are accessible. There are both drinking fountain and hand pumps with a tap for water. You can buy ice and firewood at the camp store. There are two available picnic pavilions for larger groups.

Holly River State Park is a great place to get away from the city and relax in the woods on a relaxing day. The large campground has 88 sites, all of which have access to electricity for campers. A coin-operated laundry, showers and toilets are available in each camping area of the campground.
The area has over 40 miles of trails that can be explored on foot or bike, a few of which lead to waterfalls and great vantage points where you can spend the day getting up close and personal with nature. Three campsites have corrals specifically designed for horses, so horse owners can bring their mounts.

Camp Creek State Park has four campgrounds, and it’s only two miles from the exit on Interstate 77. Only Mash Fork Campground in the park accepts RVs; the other three are strictly for tents. A total of 26 trailer sites are available at this campground.
Choose from sites with just electricity, electricity and water, or all the amenities. There is a heated bathhouse, a laundry room, and WiFi at the Mash Fork Campground. Here, guests can relax in relative seclusion while taking advantage of the park’s 32 miles of trails, playgrounds, and sports courts.

Located in a lush, natural setting on the banks of Shavers Fork River, Stuart Recreation Area features a diverse array of tree species. Amazing vistas, caves, and Blackwater Falls can all be reached via the area’s network of hiking trails. A trip into Elkins takes only 14 minutes when leaving the campground. In October of each year, the Mountain State Forest Festival is held here.
A single loop including several long spurs makes up the camping area. There is a dump station and drinking water, as well as flush toilets and showers, that are easily accessible. Campfire rings, tent platforms, lantern posts, and power outlets are all provided at each location. There are three picnic shelters in the day-use area, along with well-kept fields and a sandy beach right on the river.

Baker’s Run Campground is a US Army Corps of Engineers facility on Sutton Lake with 14 great waterfront campsites. Approximately half of the campground’s 77 sites are wired for RVs or trailers, making it ideal for those who plan on bringing both a tent and a recreational vehicle. Because of the convenient on-site boat launch, this campground is a great pick for boating and fishing enthusiasts. After a long day of exploring, relax in one of the campground’s hot showers before hitting the trails again.

Beaver Creek Campground and Riverside Campground both provide primitive and full-service campsites, so if you want to try all the activities, you’ll need to stay for at least a few days. There are more than 40 miles of trails for hikers and cyclists, a lake for canoeing and kayaking, and plenty of fish to catch. After a long day of exploring the great outdoors, nothing beats a hot shower at community bath house.

The beautiful New River flows through New River Gorge National Park for fifty miles, providing a wealth of opportunities for land and water-based outdoor recreation. There are eight primitive campgrounds spread out across the park, where you can truly reconnect with nature by pitching your tent or parking your small RV.

Wapocoma Campground is an RV park located on more than a hundred acres of land alongside Potomac River, and it features motorhome camping sites that are all walkable the the river’s natural shoreline. You’ll have all the comforts of home and more right at your fingertips. Over 100 of the sites provide full service, meaning they have connections for water, electricity, and sewage.
Small campervans and self-contained RV rentals can choose from 20/30/50 amp service. Some dog breeds are not permitted, but we love pets in general. There are toilets, shower stalls, and a separate, family-sized bathroom in the bathhouse. There is easy access to a vending machine selling soft drinks and a public telephone. The pavilion provides access to Wi-Fi as well as electrical outlets for charging electronic devices.

Over 9,000 acres of elevated forests surround Kumbrabow State Forest. Visitors who wish to spend several days in the area can reserve one of the 13 campsites at Millcreek Campground, located on the banks of a beautiful trout stream.
There aren’t many people staying at this campground, so you might have the place to yourself. Trailheads for some of the most spectacular and difficult hikes and bike rides in the area are right outside the campsites. You can also enjoy the night sky by stargazing from your campfire, spending time fishing or observing the local wildlife.

Hiking, picnicking, and camping are just some of the activities that can be enjoyed in Blue Bend Recreation Area. Many day-trippers and overnight guests enjoy the park’s rustic tables and shelters, which were built by Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. There are a few different options for family campsites and a couple of picnic pavilions at this recreation area along Anthony Creek.
During the summer, showers and flush toilets are available, while in the spring and fall, only vault toilets are available. It’s only in the spring and fall that you can use the running water, but there is a hand pump available. There is a campfire ring, picnic table, trash can, and lantern post at each parking spur site.

Located in the beautiful Monongahela Forest, Lake Sherwood Campground is a fantastic choice for families with children of all ages thanks to its convenient location, convenient amenities, and abundance of fun things to do. There are 104 tent sites, RV sites, and trailer sites in the campground, and three group camping grounds.
Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, and barbecue, and there are clean bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers nearby, but there is no electricity. Has two of the top swimming beaches of the area, and there are picnic pavilions there with tables and barbecues. Canoeing and kayaking are other fun activities, and while out on the trails for backpacking or day hiking, keep an eye out for the various species of wildlife you might come across.
Spruce Knob Lake Campground

Located in a picturesque area not far from West Virginia’s highest peak, Spruce Knob, Spruce Knob Lake Campground is home to 42 primitive campsites where campers can get back to nature in true pioneer fashion. The campground is not equipped with any of the latest camping amenities, but it compensates for it with its peaceful setting on a wooded ridge above the lake.
The majority of the campsites feature a fire pit, picnic table, and access to potable water. In addition to more than 60 miles of marked hiking trails in the surrounding forest, including the popular Big Bend River Loop, campers have quick access to the stocked lake, where they can enjoy trout fishing and non-motorized boating.

Situated through Smoke Hole Canyon on the banks of the Potomac’s southern fork, Big Bend is a quiet family campground. The campground has 46 sites for tents, RVs, and trailers, 18 of which are available without a reservation. You can find a lantern stand, picnic table and fire pit at each of the sites, all of which are nestled in the dappled sunlight of a majestic old-growth forest.
There are restrooms and a bathhouse on each circuit. You can enjoy your time hiking the more than 30 mi of trails, or if you’re feeling brave, you can head out into the vast backcountry. Canoeing and kayaking are just two of the water sports available on the river; other activities include birdwatching and trout fishing.
