This huge museum is full of many important works of art. Some of the best are a reconstruction of an Ancient Egyptian temple and priceless paintings from all over the world.

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is known all over the world as a symbol of the United States. It may come as a surprise to learn that it is actually a French sculpture of a Roman goddess. In the 1860s, a French campaign to give the American people a gift gained steam. It was decided to build a statue of Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. Copper smelters in a Parisian workshop made the statue, which was then put on an iron frame designed by a young architect named Gustave Eiffel.

The narrow path that leads up even higher to the torch was closed for good in 1916 after it was damaged by German saboteurs. Symbols are all over the place. The date that the American colonies declared independence is written on a tablet that Lady Liberty holds.
The seven rays on her crown stand for the seven seas and seven continents, showing that the United States is open to everyone. One foot on the statue is slightly raised, as if she is stepping over a broken chain that is partly hidden under her robes. This is thought to represent the end of slavery, which was still a controversial topic when the statue was finished in 1886, 20 years after the Civil War ended.
She is no longer causing trouble. We Americans now love the Statue of Liberty because it now stands as a symbol of our nation.
New York City Museums and Memorials

Inside this temple to Mother Nature, kids and adults alike are amazed by things like a 94-foot-long blue whale hanging from the ceiling and more dinosaur skeletons than you can shake a dinosaur stick at.
Visiting the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a more somber but no less important thing to do. Here, the exact spot where the Twin Towers used to stand is marked by a pair of square pools surrounded by America’s largest man-made waterfalls. Around the edge of each pool, the names of the 2,983 people who died are written in bronze parapets as a memorial to those who died.
