Who doesn’t love to stare at aesthetically pleasing things? Whether its sipping coffee in a neatly-organized home, traveling in a beautifully designed rv or making food on the campfire while watching the vibrant colors of the sunset come out.
That’s the reason we decorate. To give our eyes something to enjoy and relax our minds.
Phil and I are moving into our Airstream soon to explore all of the US national parks, and I could not feel more exhilarated and ready to go!
While I wait, I thought it would be a fantastic idea so start brainstorming everything and anything related to improving our RV experience. Of course finding the best RV decorating ideas that anyone could do definitely made the top of the list.
We are going to be living in this rig full-time after all, and I want to feel at home.

While checking out the designs other full-time RVers use, I’ve noticed most of the RV’s I’ve liked the most have had a theme. Whether it was a color scheme, an ideal, or even from a tv show inspiration, the themes really tied the whole rig together.
A theme gives the RV a consistent look and a good set of colors to work with. Take a look at this simple theme above.
If you are like me and love minimalistic styles, then this would be a great place to start.
The basic black and white base colors are stylish and sophisticated, and allow you to accent with almost anything.
We all know the struggle of trying to park our rig at an RV park, and I have a feeling this is the type of design that will undoubtedly help you relax your mind after you spend some intense moments trying to park.
Mix and Match Your Colors
Once you’ve picked your base colors, you should think of a contrast color that will really bring the space to life. We all know RV manufacturers typically use fairly simple earthy tones inside, and that splash of color can indeed brighten up your interior.
If you look at the inspiration above, they combined a pink and green pastels with white for a modern and natural combination. The dark wood and light wood really help accentuate those colors too and make them pop.
You can use this style in your kitchen or throughout the entire interior of your RV.
Another thing I also loved, is they added house plants that matched their hand towel. Such a nice touch for a home-y feel.

Now to go in the complete opposite direction of mix and matching colors which most RV owners enjoy, a unique design for your RV could be choosing only one color and experimenting with its various shades ranging from light to dark.

Hang Stylish Wallpaper
Today, there are so many fun wall covering designs, also called wallpaper stickers, that can completely change the look and feel of your RV.
In fact, you can find hundreds of options to try out with one quick google search. I spent way too long browsing, and found this dark wood one that I absolutely fell in love with.
Depending on your personal style and theme, the possibilities are limitless!
You can use any color you want in a variety of patterns such as waves, zigzags, flowers, mandalas, and others which can help with creating an artistic and entertaining design for your RV.
Once you have a nice wallpaper as a backdrop in your RV, it will be so easy to redecorate your space with different accents as the months go by.
Update the Cabinets and Knobs
Cabinets not only add space for storage, but they can also add the necessary details to your RV’s overall design. Such as these cabinets on top of the living room and kitchen, which look ideal for any theme you want to try. They match the wallpaper that has bricks to add to the theme, making it a cozy place for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
I love how they painted the top cabinets white which makes the RV feel more open and a little less cramped, and then painted the bottom cabinets a dark blue. The dark blue on bottom create a home-y feel that is also a great contrast to the white and is a great base color for many different accent colors.
Paint it with your Favorite Color
A fresh coat of paint on an RV can make a big difference, especially if it’s the color you love the most though.
With a little paint, you can make that old, outmoded decor look new again. Just remember to always start with a primer!
If you’re like me and you catch yourself questions, is it really worth painting though… just know it is! Yes it may take a day to finish the paint, but you will have years to enjoy your favorite color.

Design with Portraits and Images using Mixtiles
Mixtiles or frames are a way to have your favorite images and portraits professionally mounted on a lightweight foam backer and ready to hang easily.
All you need to do is pick any of your favorite photos or quotes and hang them beside your bed (or really anywhere in the rv).
I already have a couple of quotes, I can wait to get printed and hung up in my RV. I’m getting my husbands favorite quote done too by Ralph Waldo Emerson. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Just a nice reminder that things are going to go wrong in an RV, but we choose to be the people that overcome those problems to enjoy this nomadic lifestyle.
Whats great about the mixtiles is they are extremely lightweight and include a peel and stick strip for easy mounting on RV walls. There are multiple options available too, depending on your preferred theme.
You can either make it look like a frame with a border or just let the images cover the entire mixtile.
Hang your Decorations Using Wire Wall Grids
I’ve noticed so many RVers using wire wall grids to be both a function and decorative feature in their RV. This metallic display made up of small grids look great on almost any wall and is especially helpful for the crafters among us or those working on the road and want a place to hold their supplies.
But of course, you can also store valuables such as sunglasses, keys, and other items on it. This simply means that it will not just add beauty to your decor but will also assist you in organizing small items that you use on a daily basis.
Try Adding Hanging Decor
If you want to make your RV look lively and fun, you should consider adding decor that hangs from your ceiling, walls, or cabinets. I love hanging plants, macramé, and other decor because it gives a simplistic feel to the RV without adding clutter to your countertops and floors.
Its also great that children and pets can’t break or ruin anything on the ceiling too.

If you’re like Phil and I, and enjoy reading you should definitely consider adding bookshelves to your RV. What I like about having a book shelf is number 1, it’s practical. We will definitely be reading those books and they will provide hours or free lounging activity. Number 2, its simple decor that always looks good and adds to the space.
Not only will the bookshelf help you organize your books and identify which ones have already been read, but it could be a point of conversation when you have guests over in your RV.

Setup a Minimalistic Office Space
Phil and I are planning to work full-time while we travel full-time in our Airstream and we are beyond excited, but the toughest part was figuring out how we were going to work in an RV.
Traveling to different RV parks is very relaxing, but if you can’t work because there isn’t enough “office” space then you won’t be able to afford the lifestyle very long. And since we have to work in our RV, we might as well make it chic and stylish. You know, a place I want to sit down and work because it is simply calling my name.
A minimalistic and modern office desk beside the RV window is ideal for creating a relaxing work experience. I believe the right set up can increase your motivation to work and thats why this is one of my favorite ideas to share! It will keep us on the road longer, thats for sure.
Hang Some Chandeliers
Chandeliers are another fantastic options for adding depth and creativity to your decor. I know it can be dangerous driving your home around, which is why I love this idea of using a macrame chandelier! It’s not glass, so there is no possibility of it shattering, and as you can tell it totally ties the theme of this RV together.
I’ve also seen some really cute lights hanging in the bathroom of some RVs that i know I will have to get.
Hang Cute Towels in the Bathroom
Adding decorative bathroom towels to your rv bathroom can truly help maintain its aesthetic appeal. I would definitely consider putting some cute towels with designs on your bathroom walls and even finding a nice way to properly organize them if they are left out in the open. This is also a good idea if you have a new pile of bathroom towels and someone wants to take a shower in your RV. You can use only one color or experiment with several colors. What I love most about this idea is the practicality of it. Most RV bathrooms are so small and you really don’t want to take up space with decor that provides no value. So having a nice towel is the perfect touch.
Build In a Headboard
There are numerous RV bedroom interior decoration ideas swirling around the internet and in your head! For example, replacing your headboard can completely transform your RV bedroom. To totally alter the feel or theme of your room, use wallpaper, padded foam, PVC leather, fabric, or even a tapestry behind your bed. Then complete it with a bed set and some pillows and wallah! Transformed space.
A headboard can make a small space feel larger and have a significant impact on how the room feels and looks. You can explore more ideas by trying different colors, aside from a simple white and grey combination.

The one thing I don’t love about living in an RV is that my 8-year-old daughter doesn’t have her own If you are a mother of two children, preferably one girl and one boy, you should consider making a small space for their own rooms on your RV. On the other hand, you could use a different color that your son likes, such as blue, and keep it simple, or you could use sticker walls with his favorite superhero characters. For the life of me I can’t find it now, but I once saw a magnetic holder for a kettle in someones RV. It was so awesome! I make matcha every morning so having the kettle out everyday is pretty much standard, but it would be great if I could get it on the wall as opposed to taking up counter space.
