It’s fairly obvious that Colorado is paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. Snow-capped mountains, rushing rivers, and stunning valleys make up the rugged but stunning landscape.
Still, cities like Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs offer a wealth of cultural activities. Although Colorado is best known as a winter ski destination, there are many other fun things to do in the state at any time of the year. You can go on a hike in one of the state’s four national parks during the spring, and then cool off in the summer by swimming in one of the state’s many beautiful lakes.
The state of Colorado is known for its many one-of-a-kind yearly events, breweries, and historic mining towns. Because there is such a vast variety of things to do in the state, it could be tough to settle on a particular pursuit or single place to visit.
We’re Phil and Jenn, and we’re on a goal to visit every state and national park in the United States while we live full-time in our RV. To say that we are thrilled to include Colorado in our itinerary would be an understatement.

Elk Creek Campground & RV Park is a charming campground frequented by moose and other wild animals. It has contemporary restrooms, a kid’s playground, and a comfortable rec room with Wi-Fi and a big screen TV.
While some of the sites only have water and electricity, some have complete hookups, there is a honey wagon service available for a nominal price if you land up at a site without a sewage hookup. Although dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails at Rocky Mountain National Park, pets are welcome.

Glenwood Canyon is a stunning drive any time of year, but autumn when its red walls and evergreens are broken up by wild aspen tree golds is especially lovely. At its base, the Colorado River meanders along while a large number of energetic tourists enjoy the many opportunities for white-water rafting and fishing. Visitors can take a tour of the Hotel Colorado, which Teddy Roosevelt referred to as the “Western Whitehouse” and where he frequently stayed.
Numerous festivals are held in Glenwood Springs, and in September, a 30-minute drive will take guests to Snowmass for the Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festivals. This park is ideal for RVers of all ages because it has a hot springs spa back in Glenwood Springs where guests can unwind after hiking nearby trails and a river where they can fish before returning to their RV.

The Foot of the Rockies RV Resort & Storage is a short distance from the center of Colorado Springs and is named for its breathtaking mountain location. All of the spacious lots have access to water, electricity, and sewer, and everyone staying at the campground is welcome to use the free Wi-Fi and great satellite TV.
There is a convenient laundry room on-site, and the surrounding town has a lot of stores, eateries, and other services. Seasonal variations in prices as well as discounts for stays of a week or more are offered.

The location of Winding River Resort, just north of Grand Lake through Rocky Mountain National Park is unparalleled. You’ll have easy access to the National Park’s many attractions, including hiking, wildlife watching, cycling, climbing, fishing, and horseback riding.
Although the campground isn’t the cheapest, the Rocky Mountains more than justify the price. The resort provides handicapped access, water hookups, electric hookups, a store, firewood for sale, potable water, showers, picnic areas, telephones, wireless internet, sanitary facilities, and dump stations. Both alcoholic beverages and pets are welcome.

Beautiful North Park, Colorado, with breathtaking views of Lake John, a top-tier destination for catching Rocky Mountain trout. The pristine Mt. Zirkel Wilderness’ alpine lakes and the scenic Grizzly Helena Trail are easily accessible from Lake John Resort.

The Jellystone Park in Larkspur features all the entertainment options you could want in addition to the basic conveniences. You may cool off at the sizable water park or two pools on hot days. Play video games at the arcade or in the mini-bowling alley at night. Adults can stay in shape in their cutting-edge workout facility or outside on the yoga lawn. Play some mini-golf after a match of pickleball at the sports courts to unwind.

Monument Lake, an adobe-style resort built in 1937, is nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Southern Colorado also near Monument Lake. Every type of camping you can imagine is available at the 368-acre resort, which also offers extras like a pontoon boat, kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes for hire. A bar and restaurant, marina, convenience shop, and more are all located on the grounds of this Colorado RV park. Southwest Colorado, close to the New Mexico border, is the location of Healing Waters Resort & Spa. There are only 4 RV sites in this tiny campground, but the location in the heart of Pagosa Springs more than makes up for it.
This is more of a hot spring with full hookup RV parking than an RV park. You will see many locals using these hot springs when you visit. While some of the other upscale resorts purge the hot spring water or mix in city water, we’ve heard that Healing Waters uses pure hot spring water.

Colorado National Monument, in western Colorado, the closest RV park to it is the Monument RV Resort. There are both full-service and water/electric sites available at the resort. Pull-through RV sites are available and are 95 feet in length.
In addition to that, there is a cable TV, Wi-Fi, a dump station, two laundry rooms, propane, and two bathrooms. James R. Robb State Park, where visitors can get to the Colorado River, is right next to the campground. The state park features a fishing lake and swimming beach.
