East of the Garrison Dam that blocks the Missouri River and creates Lake Sakakawea is where you’ll find the Downstream Campground. Activities like fishing, boating, hiking, scuba diving, sailing and hunting are just some of the options available in this region. There are cross-country ski trails and archery in the area during the colder months.

There are a total of 98 campsites at the campground, 16 of which are designated as primitive, and the rest are equipped with picnic tables and barbecue grills and either 30 or 50 amp electrical service. You can take advantage of the campground’s showers, flush and vault toilets, drinking water, filling and dumping station, paved roads and sites, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits.

A pet-friendly RV park on the shores of Lake Sakakawea, not far from Beulah. Back-in sites with fire pits, picnic tables, and electrical outlets are available at this picturesque RV park, which also welcomes leashed pets. Some of the sites have full hookups. Horseshoe pits, basketball and volleyball courts are available.

Sites are available for rent from early May until late September for multiple weeks, and there are restrictions on total time spent there. Beulah Bay Campground is great for RV camping, swimming, boating, and waterskiing, as well as enjoying a peaceful picnic at one of the primitive or tent-only sites. Nearby you can find trails perfect for hiking and mountain biking.

Glen Ullin Memorial Park, located just an hour from Bismarck, the state capital, is a tranquil tribute to rural life in North Dakota. While you may think you’ve gotten away from it all, this park actually caters to RVers by providing full hookup, electric-only, or electric/water sites.

Its sunsets are legendary, and for good reason: the campground is beautiful. The Mel Rieman Recreation Area, where people can go swimming, fishing, and having picnics, is conveniently located near the Baldhill Dam. 

There are 27 campsites available at Mel Rieman Campground, and 15 of them have access to electricity. All of your sanitation needs, including drinking water, showers, and flush toilets, are met here. Valley City is 10 miles away and is the closest town.

The West Ashtabula Crossing Campground can be found in eastern North Dakota on 23 developed acres right next to Lake Ashtabula. On most weekends, it is completely full due to its high demand. Lake Ashtabula was formed in 1944 when the Baldhill Dam was built on the Sheyenne River.
